Achieving good sales is the ultimate goal of any firm. A number of factors, such as competitive pricing, a good product, reaching out to right audience and motivational advertising, are all responsible for this achievement.

But the one factor that is the most important is the ability to reach out to the right customers. These customers, who are sometimes referred to as a vertical or niche market customers, represent those who will be most likely to buy targeted products suggested by the target market.

All efforts become futile if the correct audience with all of their associated attributes are not recognized and built deeply into the company’s database query and reporting system. This single step is one of the most important factors for getting a strong return from any of several sales campaigns. Additional items to consider are gender, marital status, occupation, ethnic background, health status, income status, education, hobbies, etc. All of this information can be nicely tucked away in your company’s database.

A thorough examination of the service or product should be recorded using a friendly interface to your database system. If there were prior surveys with product oriented questions this also should be layered into your application.
Every related market research should be carefully added to the database so that subsequent analysis queries and reports will be that much more effective.

Recognizing the target market is crucial to any successful advertising and sales campaign. Once the targeted market customer group is identified and recorded in the database, the campaign can more effectively be conducted and can prove useful for future sales programs.
